Maddie’s® Foster Challenge invited Nevada-based nonprofit animal welfare organizations and government-based animal control agencies to a friendly competition, with a goal to inspire organizations to begin, expand, or invigorate their foster care programs. Creative approaches by engaging staff, volunteers, and the community were embraced to find more foster homes so that more lives were saved.

Foster care is an ideal solution for homeless pets. It’s cost-effective and an easy way to advance lifesaving and engage the community. Foster caregivers are volunteers who open their hearts and home for periods of time to take in homeless pets until a more permanent living situation is arranged, such as adoption. Foster care is most utilized for newborn and young kittens and puppies, yet also provides a safety net for pets recovering from illness or injury, or those who need basic training and socialization.

Maddie’s® Foster Challenge is made possible thanks to the generosity of the Nevada-based Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation, with support from Maddie's Fund®. #ThanksToMaddie!
